  1. What We Stand For

At Big 5 Martial Arts Club, we believe in five core values: Character, Loyalty, Effort, Control, and Etiquette. Every student and parent helps create a space where everyone feels safe, respected, and inspired to grow.

  2. What We Expect From Students

Training at Big 5 means living the true spirit of martial arts, staying disciplined, being humble, and showing respect to everyone around you.

    a. Inside the Dojo

    • Show up early. Try to arrive 5–10 minutes before class starts. If you're late, bow at the entrance and wait for your instructor to give you the okay before joining in.
    • Bow when you enter and leave the dojo. It's a simple way to show respect for the space and everyone in it.
    • Wear clean uniforms and make sure you've got the right belt and gear for class.
    • No shoes on the mats. Take them off before stepping onto the training floor.
    • No gum, food, or drinks on the training floor, except water.
    • Be kind and courteous to instructors and your training partners. No teasing, roughhousing, or disrespectful behavior.
    • Listen to your instructors immediately. Quick responses keep everyone safe during training.

    b. How You Act Everywhere

    • Stay in control of yourself whether you're in the dojo or out in the world.
    • Only use your martial arts skills for self-defense, never to start fights or hurt others.
    • Watch your language. No swearing or rude gestures.
    • Zero tolerance for bullying. Whether it's with words, actions, or online, bullying will lead to serious consequences.
  3. Guidelines for Parents and Guardians

Parents, you're a huge part of your child's martial arts journey. Here's how you can help:

    • Encourage them to be on time and come to class regularly.
    • Support them with positive words. Focus on their own progress, not comparing them to other kids.
    • Let the instructors handle discipline during class. Feel free to watch, but please do so quietly from the sidelines.
    • Keep us updated. If your child gets injured, has a health issue, or needs to miss class, let us know right away.
    • Treat everyone equally. Show respect to all students and instructors, no playing favorites or criticizing anyone in public.
    • Don't coach from the sidelines. For safety reasons, let the instructors guide your child during class.
  4. Safety and Staying Clean

    • Keep nails trimmed, tie back long hair, and make sure you're clean before coming to class.
    • Take off all jewelry, watches, and accessories before training starts.
    • Tell your instructor immediately if you get hurt.
    • Use controlled contact during sparring or drills, no excessive force or hitting too hard.
    • Take care of the equipment and training areas. They're there for everyone to use.
  5. Showing Up Matters

    • Missing too many classes without letting us know could affect whether you're ready for your next belt promotion.
    • Can't make it to class? Please give us a heads-up in advance.
    • Being consistent shows discipline, respect for your instructors, and consideration for your classmates' time.
  6. What Happens If Rules Are Broken

If someone doesn't follow this Code of Conduct, here's what could happen:

    • First: A verbal warning
    • Second: Temporary suspension from classes
    • Third: Permanent removal from the club (with no refund)

Our Head Coach and management team will make the final call on any disciplinary actions.

  7. Representing Us Outside the Dojo

When you're a student at Big 5 Martial Arts Club, you represent us everywhere you go, not just on the mats. We expect you to carry the same respect, humility, and integrity into your daily life, at school, and in your community.

  8. Understanding the Risks

Martial arts is a physical activity, and like any sport, there's always a chance of getting hurt. By participating in our classes or events, you're acknowledging these risks. The club isn't responsible for injuries or issues that happen because someone didn't follow the instructor's guidance or this Code of Conduct.

  9. You've Got to Agree

Before you start training with us, every student (and the parents of students under 18) needs to read and accept this Code of Conduct. By enrolling, you're promising to live up to the values and standards that make Big 5 Martial Arts Club what it is.
